I love the description/visual of having a stress bucket and a support bucket and when there isn't enough support the stress bucket overflows and sends pain signals. That helps me think about what I'm doing to support myself differently.
Nona, your story made me wonder how many military spouses have autoimmune conditions as a result of the spousal support bucket so often being low/empty for long periods of time. Has this been studied?
@Gretchen Pisano - I’m not sure if there have been studies. Military studies tend to focus on the soldier first, but I’ll have to dig around and see if there are any studies out there.
I think the stress/support bucket is such a helpful way to think about it - I’m glad it resonated with you!
